    On July 6, 2012 during a special Sailor Moon 20th anniversary event in Japan, it was announced that a new Sailor Moon anime would be released in the Summer of 2013. Crystal was then delayed for a July 2014 release. The series first aired online on July 5th, 2014. Later, the series animation was touched up and released on bluray/DVD. This retouched version started airing on Japanese television in April 2015. Sailor Moon Crystal is a retelling of the Sailor Moon story, staying closer to the original manga. 26 episodes were first announced, covering the Dark Kingdom and Black Moon arcs. Later, 3rd arc (Sailor Moon S/Infinity) episodes was announced. No air date for those episodes have currently been given.
